Curtain Rod Installation

Curtain Rod InstallationROD INSTALLATION

We understand that projects can take on a life of their own. Before you can say “pass me the hammer” a small one hour job has taken the entire weekend. And of course, any children within earshot have added a new word to their vocabulary to share at school Monday morning! So in the spirit of keeping it simple, we strongly suggest that you hang your drapery rod first.

Then, follow the measuring instructions and order your drapery panels based on the header you have chosen. Here are some tips to help you decide where the rod should be hung.

It doesn’t matter how high your ceilings are, it is the amount of wall space between the top of the window and the ceiling that will dictate where best to hang your drapery panels. If you have standard 8’ ceilings, you will have about 12” of wall space above the window.

We suggest you hang the rod about 6-8” above the window frame and extend it 6” past the side of the window frame. This will allow the drapery to frame the window and not crowd it.

If you have 9 or 10’ ceilings with a large expanse of wall space from the top of the window to the ceiling, hang the rod slightly higher at 10 - 12” above the window frame to give the illusion of taller windows but not over emphasizing the bare walls.

Tip: Leave a space between the bracket and the finial for one ring (or grommet) to sit. This will prevent your panel from moving and provide a truly professional looking install.

Measuring Instructions For All Pleated Panels

MEASURING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL PLEATED PANELS

Measure from the bottom of the ring to the floor. Enter your measurement using the closest 1/4” increment and we will make the necessary deductions to produce your custom panels. Pleated Panels: French Pleat, Tailored Pleat and Reverse Pleat

Tip: You can use any size rod and rings. We suggest 1 3/8” minimum rod as it will look balanced against the weight of your drapes. Pleated drapes have a finished width of 22” per panel. You will need 8 rings per panel.

Grommet Panels

GROMMET PANELS

Measure from the top of the rod to the floor. Enter your measurement using the closest 1/4” increment and we will make the necessary deductions to produce your custom panels. The finished width of grommet panels is 48” per panel.

Note: rod size must not be greater than 1 3/8” to accommodate grommet rings used for these panels.
